West Coast sucks.

I hate west coast games. I force myself to go to bed and Tivo the end of the game, promising myself that I will watch it the next day. But then I rarely do. I am weak and look at the score and read eleventy billion things about the game in various blog posts, news articles, whathaveyou, and then I don't feel the need to watch the rest anymore. It's sad.

Pacific time zone rocks when you're actually out there. It blows for the rest of the country.

Tell me what I missed the last couple games. Amusing details, people. I want all the amusing details.

In news of players I love as much as Twins, Ian Kinsler shook off the beat down the Twins gave the Rangers last weekend, and took out his frustration on the White Sox. Which is always nice, I guess. It almost makes me feel less guilty about us knocking them out of 1st place in their division.

The entire Pittsburgh Pirates team has taken to wearing high socks lately. Team unity + high socks = win. Also, the fact that the Pirates:Cubs::Yankess:Twins amuses me greatly. And Neil Walker, adorable Pittsburgh native (AND entertaining mocker of d-bags) won the Pirates game last night with his first big league home run. Fun. The sequence of shaving cream to the face pictures are a good way to start my day this morning.

It was a happy time when I came home from work last night to discover that I could watch games with adorable ian kinsler and wonderful garrett jones on my chicagocentric sports channels. I enjoyed the high socks action, however I did not enjoy how many pirates are going with the moustaches. They look like a bunch of 70's porn stars.

yeah, i was at last night's game just to see the tall socks w/ my own eyes. but as luck would have it, i didn't see walker's homer cuz i was talking to my, now former, season ticket holder rep kevin. oh, btw, evan, my new rep, is tracking down 1 last jone's action figure. i'll have by next wk and ship them out to you then! oh, and i took some shots of jones w/ his talk socks w/ you girls in mind. i'll send them to you when i get a chance!

Dick and Bert spent a lot of time last night talking about when they were going to die. Bert's decided he's going to die when he's 94, because then his wife will be 90 and they'll both die together. It was rather disturbing.

As for "amusing", I found a bunch of the quotes in the Strib and PiPress articles humorous and I threw up a post (no, not THAT kind of 'threw up') this morning on the blog with a few of them. My favorite was from Liriano, who apparently didn't notice Cuddy was at 2B until that first ground ball from Ichiro. "I was like, 'What's Michael doing here?' I didn't know he was playing second, so I was really surprised."

I would love to see Brendan Donnelly with a mustache.

I would love to see Evan Meek with a mustache.

And Andrew McCutcheon while you're at it.

I am very much for moustaches on all pro athletes... Wild players had a stache growing contest this last season, it was the best!

I selfishly want the rally-socks/rally-'staches to lead the Pirates to a historic comeback play-off berth, as it might encourage more players and teams to join in the fun.

I'm not sure if I'm sad or glad I missed the Bert death talk. Super creepy! I almost asked how the convo was relevant to the game, but I've watched enough Dick N Bert to know that relevance is not a prerequisite for anything. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
