Wardrobe decision: Charming optimism or vehicle of destruction?

I only watched bits and pieces of the Cleveland series this weekend. I think I went to too many Cleveland games last season and burned out....I just have no interest in watching that team.

To quote Meatloaf, two outta three ain't bad. I knew before the first pitch on Friday that it wasn't going to be a good night. I know that the off-day on Thursday didn't give a lot of rotational wiggle room, and Livan was already claiming he was "too rested," but I wish we could use a little strategy to play to pitching match-ups more. Putting Livan, who gives up a lot of runs, against Cliff Lee, who doesn't, kind of makes the game a foregone conclusion. The offense did an admirable job trying to rally. I give them credit for that. It's too bad they didn't stick Juan Rincon out there in relief. We might have had a fighting chance. But the winning on Saturday and Sunday was better. I enjoyed what I saw of it; especially Brian Buscher's awesome home run.

Congratulations to Casey Blake for being traded to a less evil team. Good job. I always knew you had it in you.

I was digging through my closet the other day, and I stumbled upon my Got Postseason? t-shirt from '06. It lost its spot in the starting t-shirt rotation right after the Luis Castillo trade last year and has been in the proverbial mothballs ever since. But I look at it now and realize that at 2.5 games back, it just might be able to pull a Brett Favre and come out of retirement. However, I can't decide if this would simply be charmingly optimistic, or a surefire jinx for the Twins and their chances at a playoff spot . It's too weighty of a decision to make all by myself, so I will put it to a binding vote here on the blog. You decide.

[Edit: Thanks to your input, the shirt stays on ice unless we actually DO got postseason.]

I would wait until after the White Sox series. If we win or even tie the series, then go with the shirt, but I could see where the shirt might just whip the evil Sox into a frenzy and then procede to outscore us 67-3.

Great minds think alike nelle! I specifically set the legally binding t-shirt poll to run through the greater part of this series, so I wouldn't be tempted, and inadvertently ruin the whole season single-handedly.

I think you should put Nick swisher on your desktop and tell him that you love him and I will *GULP* take AJ (evil catcher boy) and put him on my desktop and if someone would take Mr. DYE. we could be in good shape. I will take Jermaine but I suspect AJ is a tougher sell

Yikes.

From a girl who honestly believes she must wear her Twins pajamas on Sundays in order for the team to have a good week, I'd say wait.

Perhaps you could make a deal with it. Promise to take it out if the Twins take the lead in the division -- with a warning that the priviledge can be revoked at any time.

Sorry Michele, but I still LOVE A.J.! Not like Nick Swisher subversive love, either. Pure, genuine, adoration-type love.

But yes, I will be pulling out my warm fuzzy feelings for Swisher during this series. Those Girls briefly toyed with the idea of taking a "We love Nick Swisher" sign with us to the Dome tonight, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to do it.

K-bro, where or where did you find your Twins jammies?

Ah, the Got Postseason t-shirt...I have one of those too. I usually wear it in the off-season and take the brunt of nasty comments from the cubicle monkeys I work with. I will keep mine in a safe-deposit box until it is safe to bust it out.

I'll take on my "beloved" Anthony John. As I plan to be calling him that as loudly as I can from the stands both tonight and Wednesday!

Oh Man! I wanted Rincon to pitch so bad. Maybe he was too shy (or bullheaded). And how nice of Casey Blake to go to a NL team where we don't have to face him.

Actually, the Twins jammies are two separately-purchased pieces. The tank top came from the Twins store, and the "lounge pants" came from Wal-Mart.
